Hope to be one of the greatest tours ever, there's all circumstances for that after all the great names would take part, I'm exited about it.

The Tour started with a surprising finale, Chris Froome and several other big names lost around 50 minutes due to crashes while Quintana lost over a minute due to a puncture. Things went well for Nibali, Landa, Valverde, Dumoulin and Bardet as they arrived with the first group and gained time on their rivals.

In other news, Fernando Gaviria won the stage with a powerful sprint ahead of Peter Sagan.

Couldn't be more glad than I am now for Degenkolb after what the guy had been through in the last couple of years, he gaved an emotional interview after the win, crying, well done to him.

It was a crazy stage the last one, almost like the classic race Paris-Rube, with almost half of the riders being involved in incidents.

Really sad to see Porte out, the guy has been so unlucky during the course of his career and now again...the race will definitely loose from his absence I think.

Finally the mountain stages comes tomorrow, it was about time for the real race to be started, I'm really exited for the next two weeks.

Julian Alaphilippe grabbed the first stage victory for France at the 2018 Tour today with a spectacular breakaway ride, while Greg Van Avermaet holds on to the yellow jersey after a very brave breakaway ride as well. The big GC contenders were not up for a fight today, maybe tomorrow...

The final week of the 2018 Tour de France kicks off on Tuesday with a tough mountain stage in the Pyrenees, 218km from Carcassonne to Bagneres de Luchon. It wasn't the most exiting tour(at least for me) especially compared with this years Giro which was so open and exiting race I think but generally there wasn't lack of intrigue and I think G Thomas deserved his triumph in the end.

Sky was once again the dominating team and that's what makes it boring at times but that's not their fault and the rest of the teams probably should raise their level if they want to compete with them in the future.

Some said Froome era is over! - but I don't think that way, not just yet. I think he was exhausted from the Giro and compared to Dumoulin's who's younger, he needs a bit more to recover.

I think that both the Giro and the Vuelta have been more entertaining in recent years thanks to the stages, they seem to have more hilly and spectacular stages than the Tour.

I agree that Thomas deserved the victory, he was flawless throughout the 3 weeks. Froome is not done, not by a long shot, he still is one of the best riders in the world and he will probably prove it again soon.

It's a shame that Nibali didn't have the change to finish it, I think he could have been a strong contender.

Both Nibali and Porte absences from the tough mountain stages were a big loss for the race intrigue.

As for the most of the top sprinters who left in the mountains by the way, these guys either don't training enough for the climbings these days or just the race profile has been too tough for them, probably  there's a bit of truth in both these statements.

I've heard that from an ex-proffesional rider, they do train for the climbings amongst their main trainings which is the sprint of course, but obviously not so lately after so many of the top ones didn't made it to Paris.
