Mathieu van der Poel produced a formidable attack on the day's final climb and destroyed his rivals, arriving six seconds ahead of Pogacar, Roglic and Kelderman. Moreover, van der Poel managed to realize his grandfather's dream by taking the yellow jersey. You see, Raymond Poulidor, van der Poel's grandpa, was a famous cyclist in the 1960s and 70s, he finished the Tour de France in second place three times and another five times in third place, but never managed to wear the yellow jersey.

Bahrain Victorious managed to claim a second consecutive stage win, and this one also came at the end of a daring breakaway orchestrated by Dylan Teuns. However, the most important things in the race happened behind him as Tadej Pogacar attacked on the penultimate climb of the day and put a huge distance between him and his rivals. The Slovenian has now grabbed the yellow jersey and he seems quite capable of holding it until the peloton reaches Paris.

Wout Van Aert produced a masterpiece on stage 11, he went in the breakaway and then left his companions to claim a solo victory in one of the most iconic stages of the Tour. Tadej Pogacar asserted his superiority by winning the most difficult mountain stage of this year's race, it's quite clear now that he can't be beaten in the general classification. However, the fight goes on for second place as Jonas Vingegaard fought hard to keep it after Richard Carapaz attacked him in the final kilometres of the stage.

Tadej Pogacar was in no mood for mercy as he defeated his rivals once again to claim his third stage victory at this year's Tour and add more certainty to his already huge overall lead.
