In America Father’s Day is celebrated June 18th. To honor all fathers around the world our members will have a chance to share a story about their dad, grandfather or that important father figure in their life.

Please tell us about that special man in at least 100 words or more. Any less than that it will not be considered for a prize. Enter as often you like especially if there is more than one great dad figure in your life!

one day i was smoking.

i was started smoking.

when i was almost 15 years old.

that was sunny and bright day. year was almost 2k.

and i decided to wear my cool clothes and go outside for meet my cool friend.

i was feeling like kurt cobain or other cool rockers.

whatever long story short,

at least i wear my shoes by the way i was smoking i mean cigaratte was between my lips and then

i open the our home front door, at that moment i blowed smoke his face mistakenly, how could i know my father entering home same time with me.

when i look my front i was eye to eye with my father. same time i blowing smoke his face.

i was like omg. my father was old school men and he was tied oriental tradition.

so at that moment he suddenly became angry because he saw me first time with smoking and then he turned hulk and i try to escape my room he was after me.

that was scary pursue maybe i had ever lived.

finally i locked my room door after a while he calm down and left me on my own with smoke
thats the end of story.

ps. smoking kills dont do that & happy fathers day

our mother is our father, she raised us all with out the lousy mans help

My Dad is what I may literally call my "Father Figure". My Dad is a handsome man so I got my good looks from him. He is and engineer so I also end up being an engineer, all siblings are accountants. When still a kid, whenever he will do some carpentry works in the house, I always assist him so I also got my carpentry skills from him.
He is not perfect, had many flaws. He is a chain smoker ever since I remember and also a gambler, cards, cockfighting, online casinos and hey, even bet on spider battles, ha ha. And from his 7 children, I'm the second child but assumes the eldest title when brother passed away at the age of 14, I am also that one the "inherited those "ugly traits". Among my siblings, I am the only one that gambles , smokes and drinks. He has stop drinking and smoking eleven years ago but still go to the Binho from time to time.
He, together with Mom, are good provider. They were able to send us all to college and we siblings eventually got our educational degrees. He is 78 years old and still strong and our bond has gotten more strong, with my parents living with me now.
My Dad, his good traits just barely outweighing what I might call his bad traits, is the best Father in the world for me. Without him, I will never be in this world to experience what we call LIFE . Thanks Dad, I love you!

Oh Wow! This is going to be great, and really not that difficult.. I think that any of us that could any way possible have 14 father figures are totally spoiled rotten.

To be honest, I can come close as time passed in life.  But there are only really 3 that remains in my heart, with of course everyone's major Father in the heart, body, mind and soul.

My Father is the Figure and Foundation in My Life Today!

I wrote this poem for him many years ago, with great appreciation of the life he has given me and lead me to be the best I could be and endure.

A Dad's Bonded Foundation
Foundations set in life--bonds indefinite timeless
New beginnings of life--bonds indefinite endless
My Dad’s wisdom, love, care and concerns
Keep thoughts to mind, always to learn
Always to learn from the best Dad ever
Logical advice--focused future endeavors
His love is forever, never belated

  March 27, 2017 Las Vegas Visit

My dad has been a bit of a hard a** for a long time , but I love him for it. He Taught me the importance of hard work and the importance of providing for my family. He provided everything and then some for our family growing up, he worked hard and often, was always fair , even when he was mad , he gave my sister and I every chance to succeed in life and now he's doing the same where he can for our kids, his grandchildren. We don't always see eye to eye but I'll never lose respect for the man that's gave us everything and more .

Where do I even begin...

It was tough for me during my younger days. My parents got divorced (messy might I add) when I was 12 years old - all I can say is I was devistated!!! But as I got older I realized it was for the best even though it meant having to alternate special days with my mom and dad. My mother worked long hours, whilst studying for 10 years and could'nt fetch me from school on a daily basis for 12 years. My dad, who went through struggling times, made sure he was parked at the school waiting for me to come out of class at 2:15pm (everyday), drop me off at home, rush bad to work and carry on with his hectic day, in an attempt to make ends meet.

I always remembered the coke and chips he would have ready in the car whilst waiting for me every afternoon *smile* - He did his best to do as much as he could for me, even though it was tough at that point.

For this reason and many others, my Dad is my Hero! Now and Forever...

Dad, I love you xxx

My 2nd Entry, But My Grandfather is the #1 Father Figure to claim!

My Grandfather was the early Father Figure in the first six years of my life as a full-time Father, while my Dad fulfilled his military duties as an Air Force Chief Master Sergeant serving around the world. He was born a Native American Cherokee Indian in 1902, and was well known and respected in the East Texas Community in the USA. My Dad was the only boy out of 11 girls (3 sets of twin girls). And of course, there was my Grandmother. I was the first grandchild born for until two days later. However, my grandfather bonded with me as no other father or father figure could. Where he went, I went. What he did, I did. He taught me the ends and outs of life and independent survival. He owned a horse stable and a farm, which he allowed me to give all the horses and animals names as my pets. I had the best life with him and hate to give a comparison with the other father figures, including my Dad. But that is just the way it was. Each Father Figure had a different place and purpose in my heart, but my Grandfather over ruled all. There is so much to add to this story, but enough was told to understand my meaning of the love I had for my Grandfather and the love he had for me.

To end this story, my Grandfather lived to the age of 91 and passed away on June 15, 1994 to the battle of cancer. It was so overbearing for me and had to seek counsel. The only cure for me was to create a poem for him, which won a Distinguished Poet Award, Medal, Anominated to the Las Vegas Distinguished Poets Inauguration Convention, Poetry Book and DVD recorded Publication, and a monetary award.

I would like to share my Poem written for my Grandfather with LCB and my Fellow LCB Friends. Thank you for reading such a long entry!

There is always a special someone in life.
A special someone...someone with Endless Love.
Endless Love lasts forever, even in after life.
My Grandfather's after life is now above.

My father was pretty strict regarding most things, but also really cool overall. I respect him tremendously, and feel sorry for him, seeing him age rapidly..I hope he will live long, so he can enjoy his pension (which is really crummy, due to the crisis, the crooked Dutch government and whatnot) at least, with loads of free time.

He's a really intelligent man, and never afraid to speak his mind, he has set a great example for me, even though i didn't quite see it that way when i was younger, and more of a rebel:)

I'm really grateful, and wish everybody to have a father as cool as mine!  

This is not meant as entry by the way, just wanted to share my feelings 

There is a tough reality that many (Garry Ga Ga for example) are confronted with on Holidays that are set aside to celebrate people with specific roles in our personal lives and in society. Like Garry, I am one of many that fall into this social abnormality. I was raised in foster homes and group homes and when there was no where else for me to go, I was put into institutions. I have been adopted and un-adopted numerous times.  I've had five last names.   I've been married only once. Since this contest is specific to Father's Day, I will share with you the fact that I've known many men that held the title, "Dad."  I essentially began my life in this situation, thus I absolutely had zero idea that a Father was anything more than a person to fear. (Stay with me.  I promise you a good ending! ) With one exception. 

Eugene Edward Oesterreich.

This is the name of the man that IS my father.  I met him when I was three years old.  I lived with him and his (my) family on and off for the next three years. They were absolutely the best years of my young life.  If not for the fact that I had four other siblings, (my twin brother was with me at this time:) this wonderful family would have adopted me and my twin.  

Life doesn't always work out for the best, but I firmly believe that it gives us the tools to make it through anything.  The love and nurturing of this family, ESPECIALLY my father, helped me endure the difficult years that followed.  I never forgot him and I never gave up hope because he had taught me that there WERE great people in this world capable of loving me.  Amazingly... even though I was only six years old the last time I saw him, the path to his home was planted firmly in my mind.  When I graduated from High School in a town just eighty miles away, I found a job and within eight months had purchased a vehicle.  You already know.  I drove directly to the home that I remembered from so long ago, and reunited with my dad and this wonderful family.  I was legally adopted for the final time at the age of twenty four.  My dad died two year later, but during the years since we were reunited, there was not a day that went by that I did not talk to my Dad and he didn't tell me he loved me!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD!   LYWAME!

Ha ha Thanks Key. I will never know the thrills, joys and sorrows of being a gambler without him influencing me.  Like father, like son.  Not perfect but love him for what he is. :)

This is one the most important days in my life of missing and remebering clearly special Grandfather that took me under his wings of love cherishing every moment with me, just as if he were my mother (which I did not know at the time until 6 years old. Although he lived a long life battling with Cancer beginning at the age of 57 and made it through many years until June 15, 1994. He was very strong and did not really suffer much. He was always happy to make my happy. Just for closure with my sadness of remembrance, I had to add this to my story.

Grandad, I will always love and remember the love, strength, independence, and everything you taught me to survive during good and bad times. I miss you,, but also know you are with the angels.

There are so many stories I can tell about my Father, it's hard to choose one.  Recently having found out he has lung disease I guess  I can tell you all about the time  my Dad stopped smoking . Back in the late 1980's there was a national campaign to educate kids about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and smoking through the DARE program.  DARE stood for Drug Awareness Resistance through Education.

During one of the videos they had a slogan for kids to say no to ciggarettes.  It was don't be a ButtHead . My Dad smoked about a pack a day at the time. So I remember rushing home to tell my Dad, "Hey Dad, don't be a butthead." 

After a good week of badgering him he told me he'd quit  for Lent.  So that Ash Wednesday he stopped cold turkey.  Easter came and went and he hasn't smoked since.

Later when I was a Senior in high school I wanted to look cool in front of friends with the ciggy in hand.  When i  got home that evening I  walk past my dad and he said to me, "hey Butthead, I better not find out your smoking!" He reminded me that it was because of me he had stopped smoking years back and was damned if I was going to pick it the habit.

He hasn't smoked in over 25 years but the 20 years he did took their toll. That along with working around asbestos have him a little short of breath at times. Knowing now how hard it is for people to stop and him having stopped because his kid asked, goes to show what an example of a dad he was to me. 

Last but not least, my 3rd Father Figure in my life to give appreciation and credit to is my Stepfather.

I cannot leave my Stepfather out of this contest, because he too deserves a lot of credit for being there for me as one of the best Father Figures of all times. Once again, as there was no other Father Figure around, which I obviously depended on one instead of a Mother Figure. My mom remarried in the earlier phase of my life until my adult age of 17, basically a decade. My Stepfather (Daddy) completed setting a sound foundation of excellence in my life as he struggled hard to support myself and 6 siblings. He may be in all actuality my Stepfather, but to me he is Daddy, and will always be considered as "Daddy". Although, my mom has passed and they were divorced prior to her demise.
Even though he had hard working days, he took time out to teach me the tough times as to what to expect in life and how to handle certain situations. He worked hard to keep the family safe from harm, happiness, and fulfilled all the best living conditions a child could ever need or want. He focused on making sure there was solid bondage for 7 Children (3 girls, 4 boys) together, which 3 were my step brothers and sister and 3 were my half brothers and sister. But to me, we were all whole, a complete family finally for me, and he was “Daddy”.

Therefore, I grant him the praise, gratitude and utmost appreciation that he deserves.

I pray that with his current health condition, that the best of life for him is still to come.

I bless him with this Certificate of Award

My Dad, who passed away from pancreatic cancer several years agoHe was diagnosed Dec. went to heaven in Apr....way to fast as he was a very healthy 71 yr old! He was a great man who retired as a Police Officer at 56. He also served in the Air Force and I currently have his flag displayed proudly in my home! He loved me and I loved him! Happy Father's to all the Dad's

Well sad to say but my birth father has never really tried to be a father. He would come into town every now and then. Try to make nice, then he was gone again. He never got to know me or my sister very well., it was is lost. When I was 10 my mom remarried a man name Dave. This was my true Dad.

He taught us to fish, to play poker, to love animals and to listen to your heart. He sometimes wasnt the easiest to get along with, but neither were we as teenagers. He never demanded respect ,like my father had. He earned it. He passed away a few years back, and we were there for him, just like he was there for us.

HI,To me my brother lonny. listen to this story and on my life its real. my mom at 15 got pregnant. forced to marry my dad 6 years her senior. by 22 my mom had 5 kids. the last one my brother Lonny. u see at 31/2 months pregnant my mom miss carried. they went to clean HER INSIDES And found out she was still pregnant with my brother. he wasn't miscarried. born at 3 lbs and 3lbs. he had not developed lungs. my mom said goodbye as Dr. instructed and 4 months in incubator he survived and came home fitting in the palm of her hand to her wrist. so he just well  got pneumonia and was to collapse lungs but made it. he ended up schizophrenic by age 18. having severe delusions and panic attacks he said god told him to jump off freeway overpass to save children of the world. he did this in Seattle Washington . he dove head first and dad taught us to dive so well we made no splash but Lanny landed on his feet. i think he may saved kids cuz he landed in rush hour traffic in between vehicle and diesel truck which stopped less than an inch from his head. they built his feet fused bones then used sanders to shape them. he wasn't suppose to walk by age 45 due to arthritis his injury's would cause. he was walking 6 miles day for his diabetes having no arthritis. he then needed to be damned so took all psych med at once. the only problem he took one of three drugs the hospitals cant bring u down from. by time he got to emergency 90 percent had absorbed so charcoal not help. his heart rate was twenty to fifty beats above any rate Dr seen survive at there hospital and having not peaked on the pills he took we were allowed to say goodbye. we slept in waiting room in morning Lonnie alive heart well. so he thinks he was Hitler and killed all the Jews for 6 months he balled cuz that is his reality. and he has med. so when mental people rock or shake have tremors or do stuff with there mouths thats the side effects of the med they take to stop there most horrible disability. so they look crazy taking meds to be sane. society judges him so he will have no wife and kids cuz the prejudice and evil normalcy creates  in our equal humans. he has helped me being single mom cuz insane he is great man. he volunteers at salvation  army and helps feed people and works with addicts in recovery at meetings. he will help me all day even though his mind says demons will take his sole if he does. and as real as u the earth and the day is so is that of his mind. he now has cancer his new drug if he gets sick can kill him and  white blood cells will go completely. he has non Hodgkin leukemia. its in white blood cells so he already got nepenthe and sick. he is the only adult u can tell sees us all as kids do- the same a mom a mom. to kids not good bad rich nor fat ugly kind etc. we r all of the human species as animals. a cats a cat lion is lion human a human only we r above food chain cuz we die for our kind all other animals kill to survive so compassion makes us great. so Lonnie's the greatest he did what Jesus did died for us. not real no it wasn't for us it was his mental so that's why he did as real to Jesus to die as it was for Lonnie and he jumped. i couldn't only men like Lonnie and jesus got that in them i assume. dont take personal i not comparing Jesus  i am saying few see us as Jesus but this greatest man no die for like them and none have miracles rising from death and walking not on water he isnt suppose to walk no arthritis. Dr cant figure it out NOW hes donating for science when gone. K this on my kids soul is all the truth absolutely K 

My dad loves music and can play many instruments. He used to play the guitar around pubs in London, it was an unusual band as they used items from home to make their instruments. My dad had a guitar made from a toilet seat People used to love it when they played!

I have fond memories of going through my dads huge record collection and playing them, everything from Pink Floyd to Judge Dread. My dad would get his guitar out and play along with many of the tracks. He has the ability to listen to music and know how to play the tune.

To my dad, thank-you for passing on your love and variety of music 

I miss my dad a lot,hes retired with twa now  and moved to missouri,all the twa old timers retired there since that was their last hub and could hang out with each other,well american airlines,they were bought out by them at the end of his career,we lived in ny most of our lives and got to go to so many met,yankee,knicks,rangers,islanders,then the nj. devils when they moved to new jersey,what was great he would always let me bring the freind of my choice and he would buy the best seats,food,soft drinks,i got to meet airline pilots,the "hot" stewerdases"sit in the captain chairs,eat the food when twa had their own chefs back then,filet mignon,lobster tail,only the best for the 1st class flyers,oh,i met telly savalas,mahamed ali,and a couple of knicks that i cant remember their names.when he had a few days poff we would spend it playing strat-o-matic baseball,ah,i miss those good old days.  yobaboy

If I want to see my Dad, I just close my eyes!   He's six foot-two, with curly, jet black hair.  He was a butcher at a big meat packing plant.   His buddies called him bumps.   Don't ask me why...   Me and him use to take long walks arround our block together, sometimes we'd stop and he'd talk to one of the neighbors who were out in the yard.   When he held my hand, it disappeared under his.   I felt safe, happy and so loved........   One year on the fourth of July, he put me on his shoulders to watch the fireworks.  I've never remembered fireworks that were ever better than they were that year!

My Dad was the best cook.   We use to drive my mother and two sisters to church for mass on Sundays. We'd drop them off and go back to the house where he'd make scrambled eggs and bacon and we'd just talk and laugh until it was time to pick them up and go to my grandmothers.  When I'd ask him why I didn't go to church too, he'd say in a wisper, close to my ear, "you giggle too much" and we would both just laugh...........

When I little, I use to get the croup. I remember how my mom would wrap me in a blanket, still in my pajamas and my dad would put me in the car and take me to the emergency room, on more than one occasion.

The year I started school, first grade, my dad got sick.  He had a brain tumor.  He went to the VA hospital and they removed it, but it grew back..............  Right before Christmas, on December 16th, that very same year, he died.   Some of my fathers friends said that my dads death was 'miltary connected,' we never really new for sure.   He had just turned forty and I was only six..........   The last conversation my mom and dad had, he told my mother to pay off the house.............  We all grew up there and my mother never remarried..............

A quick add on,i also miss traveling with my dad,his being a pilot got me a tickt anytime i wanted free annd we travel mostly the u.s.a.,we live in a beautiful country and i only had good times here except california where they burgurled us in our room right in the same room while we were sleeping,we went to the airport and the twaa supervisor there gave my dad $100 right out his pocket so we could stay a couple more days,wonderful man,not one of those (im entitled to everything free types) come to think of it my dad was officialy a pilot and flew mostly short hop 727's and some jumbo's non-stop to l.a.,he also flew a few 707's international (beautiful little plane,r.i.p.) and some 1011's 3 engine jumbo's my favorite,even though the jumbo 747's had cocktail lounge bars on the  2nd floor,that always facinated me,a 2nd floor on a plane,lol-thought we would be flying 5 story skyscrapers by now,lol.  well good luck to all! happy fathers day dad!!!   I MISS FLYING 1ST CLASS FREE WHAAH!!!   all the free drinks you could consume,real gourmet fare,shiskabab,dinner mints,movies,built in radios into the seats with several channels,that was flying    ,and never,never did a $5 an hour guy dare touch your childs naked places with their tounges hanging out at their discrection in those days.NEVER FORGET THIS,TELL YOUR CHILDREN SO THEY TELL THEIRS IF THIS CONTINUES, IT HAS TO STOP!  the tsa has never i repeat NEVER stopped any terrorists!  in fact they helped one on wwwhen a lawyer brought this to court it was hushed! anyone remember the shoe,matchstick,lmao! bomber? he had no passport so of course they set it up to make them SOMEHOW look good. uhhhh...love you dad,sorry you had to see tghis happen to your beloved airlines.

Ooh! The suspense is killing me and my living Dad and Stepdad!.  They are just waiting to battle the throne, to show who was the best. Little do they know they know, it was really the one (Grandfather) that was the Father Figure duirng the first years of my life.

Thank you again lipstick! For participants that entered more than one father figure, is there any way we can know which entry actually won.  My Father and Stepfather really wanted me to let them know, however, I am not sure if I will tell them. It could possible cause some animosity.  Thank you.

Congratulations to all winners and everyone that participated.  I really did like this one, it really allowed me to not focus on my Mom's demise as much. But very tearful.

I cant believe people tried to cheat!! Especially as it says in rules is a random draw, so was no need to find a 'best story'...I really enjoyed reading the posts about dads/father figures...cant believe some were false

So many of you put your heart and soul into it that it wasn't fair to random draw. I hand-picked the winners and it wasn't easy!

Wow , That is really sad that some of them had to look for a story on the internet. Sorry i missed this one , i just forgot to come back until now. which is to late of course..lol. oh well, next month. congrats to all the winners.  :)

I could have done without seeing these two very public humiliations tacked to the end of this contest meant to celebrate Fathers. I get that there are rules that must be adhered to.  I get that I don't know the circumstances  leading up to this ousting. I just don't get why it had to be done so publicly.  It's not like they have to answer to other members for their actions.  Just LCB.  I have the strongest need to seperate myself from this entire situation.   I don't even want my prize.   Take it back, please.
